Belconnen Community Gallery - Springboard Series presents:
BEAUTY IN IMPERFECTION
Exhibtion runs August 14 - September 1, with an offical opening 5:30pm Wednesday August 16. Opened by Alison Munro, Lecturer at ANU School of Art and Design and working artist.
My practice crosses between textiles and ceramics. In textiles I work primarily with four shaft looms to explore the possiblities of what weaving can accomplish, and investigate the use of non-traditional materials. In ceramics my practice focuses on the exploration of form through wheel work and hand manipulation.
Inspiration comes from many sources, such as a walk on the beach or through the bush. My work is informed by an analysis of colour, shape, pattern and texture found in natural settings. I draw on my memory of the sights and sensations of these experiences to provide the starting points for my textile and ceramic works.
